This website is the result of many years of research at Wageningen Food and Biobased Research (WFBR), a part of Wageningen University & Research (WUR).
The models, parameters, and key figures used for agricultural products are the results of previous research conducted by WUR and have therefore been used for years in various projects and publications.

However, for SMEs, horticulturalists, and farmers, it is not always easy to translate extensive research reports and scientific articles into daily practice.
To ensure that the results of WUR research are utilized deeply within the agricultural, horticultural, and food sectors, the Top Sectors Agri & Food and Horticulture & Starting Materials, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN) and Wageningen University & Research, introduced the Kennis op Maat program in 2020. This scheme provides scope for the targeted disclosure and dissemination of existing research knowledge so that entrepreneurs in the fields of agriculture, water and food can get started with it themselves. gericht te ontsluiten en te verspreiden zodat ondernemers op het terrein van landbouw, water en voedsel er zelf mee aan de slag kunnen.

In collaboration with 'HDG Academy', 'GroentenFruit Huis', 'Fruit Bewaring & Advies', ' Stichting Ontwikkeling Koeltechniek', en 'FlowerWatch' the 'Kennis Op Maat' project "Shelf Life Predicted" (KOM24057) was launched in 2025 with the aim of disseminating this previously acquired knowledge more widely to the (Dutch) business community.
